The Arc’teryx Konseal Crew Neck Pullover Men’s in Black is a robust climbing fleece with a relaxed fit and reinforcement where rock and equipment create friction. Polartec® Power Stretch® fleece with Hardface® technology balances warmth, stretch and durability, while Fortius Air 50 nylon panels protect the shoulders, forearms and waist. At 445 grams, it is a purposeful midlayer rather than a delicate lounge piece.
Built for real use. A useful midlayer has to manage several jobs without drawing attention to any of them. It should add warmth while you pause, release excess heat once you move again and remain comfortable under a shell or pack. Arc’teryx cuts its fleece pieces for movement rather than sofa-soft volume. That makes them easy to combine with a base layer on the hill, yet refined enough to keep wearing when the technical part of the day is over.
Layering works best when each piece has room to do its job. Wear this fleece over a light base layer in cool, dry conditions, or add a weatherproof shell when wind and rain arrive. Open the collar or adjust the hem when you need more airflow, and keep pocket contents flat if another jacket goes on top. The fabric supplies insulation but is not a waterproof barrier, so the outer layer should be chosen for the forecast and the pace of the day.

Care and use. Follow the garment label, wash with technical pieces in similar colours and close the pocket zip first. Skip bleach, fabric softener and unnecessary high heat. The DWR on the reinforced panels is a light moisture-management finish, not waterproof construction; add a shell when conditions demand full weather protection.
We chose this piece because it feels purposeful without looking overbuilt. The pattern supports reaching and walking, the fabric balances warmth with breathability, and the details are useful whether the day includes rock, trail, travel or work. A technical fleece becomes especially valuable when it can move between those settings without demanding a full change of clothes. Wash it according to the label, avoid fabric softener, and give it the same considered care as your shell to preserve both fit and surface.
