The Patagonia Men’s Classic Retro-X Jacket is a refined update of one of the brand’s most recognisable fleece styles. Built for everyday cold-weather use, it combines the familiar heritage look of Retro-X with a more considered construction, focused on wind protection, warmth, and recycled materials throughout.
The outer uses 100% Repreve® recycled polyester 1/4″-pile fleece, certified by OceanCycle and sourced from coastal communities at risk of plastic pollution. This gives the jacket its signature texture while maintaining a clear material focus. Inside, a 100% recycled polyester taffeta lining adds windproof performance and heat retention, making it more functional than a standard fleece in exposed conditions. The lining also features a DWR finish made without intentionally added PFAS.
Patagonia keeps the construction practical and familiar. A full-length front zip is backed by an internal wind flap to help block cold gusts, while the stand-up collar is fleece-lined for added comfort around the neck. The outer collar and trim use NetPlus® 100% postconsumer recycled nylon faille, made from recycled fishing nets. Y-Joint sleeves improve mobility through the shoulders and arms, giving the jacket a less restrictive feel in day-to-day wear.
Storage is straightforward and functional, with one zippered chest pocket and two zippered handwarmer pockets. The hand pockets are lined in recycled polyester brushed tricot for a softer feel. Finished binding at the collar, centre-front zipper, cuffs, and hem keeps the edges clean and reinforces the structured silhouette.
With its regular fit, the Classic Retro-X Jacket works as an outer layer in cool, dry weather or as a substantial insulation piece through colder parts of the season. It carries the visual identity of a classic Patagonia fleece, but the updated fabric package and considered detailing give it a more current and technically grounded finish.
